HoofPAC Political Action Committee

HoofPAC is the political action committee that has been formed to end the slaughter of America's horses. Cathleen Doyle, founder of HoofPAC, led the successful Save The Horses campaign in 1998 that made the slaughter of California's horses a felony.

Did You Know?
"There are no other laws on the books anywhere else in the country or internationally which prohibits the slaughter of a horse for human consumption. There are numerous transport laws regarding horses and there are laws in two states prohibiting the commercial sale of horsemeat, but only California has made it against the law to slaughter or export horsesfor slaughter for human consumption."

EPN Presentations

The EPN used this video to explain and demonstrate to the Indiana Senators:

  • how horses are measured;

  • where the poll and withers are located;

  • how horses raise & lower their heads;

  • how an average size horse would have to lower their heads to fit in trailers with heights of 5'7", 6', 6' 6". Heights of 7' & 8' are also shown. The horse in the video is 15.2 hands.

The horse in this video, when holding his head in a normal upright position, had the top of his ears at the 7' line.
